Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I’ve seen this movie twice now, and I’m going to see it again for a third time tonight. I’ve decided to split this entry into two posts. This first one will NOT feature any spoilers and isn’t going to be any kind of review of the movie. The entry I’ll be posting after this one is going to be spoiler filled and will go into detail about everything I saw in this movie.

So to start with, I love The Force Awakens, it is the Star Wars movie I’ve been waiting to see for a very long time now. It’s an awesome movie despite it having a few flaws, but the thing I took away from it was that it put the fun back into Star Wars.

I love it, they did what I had once thought was the impossible, especially after the prequel trilogy. Well done to everyone involved.

It’s fun, it’s funny, it’s a great ride and it has all that and more while still being a character focused movie. This movie was about the characters, who they were, what they did and their growth throughout the movie from who they were to who they are at the end of the movie.

We’re also set up for the next two movies by the end, we’re introduced to these characters, who are ALL likable, even the bad guys, I love to hate Kylo Ren and General Hux. I enjoy the chemistry between Poe, Finn and Rey and I love how the old fits in with the new.

As I said before, despite its flaws, there is so much about this movie that hits all the right buttons with me and it’s something that I’ve wanted for a long time. It’s like this movie was made specifically for me, as conceited as that sounds.

And do you know what I love best about The Force Awakens? I love that I could tell what was going to happen, but the effect of what happened was not diminished one bit, it still hits you where you live and you’re still feeling all the emotions you should be feeling when everything is happening on-screen.

But most of all, unlike the prequels, which told in more detail about a story we had already heard from characters in the original trilogy, I have no idea where the sequel trilogy is going to take us. It’s exciting to be at this moment in time, after seeing the first of the sequel trilogy and knowing more are coming and being totally clueless trying to figure it all out with the little information I have.

I love it, Star Wars is back, the way it should be for a new generation of fans while staying true to the original generation of fans.

I’m going to enjoy talking in great detail about the entire movie in my spoiler Movie Spotlight.
