Electronic Arts hasn’t really been active on a Nintendo console for quite some time. After all, Wii only saw a tonne of cheaply made EA Sports games and a few scraps of fairly unique games such as Boom Blox and Dead Space: Extraction.

After E3 2011 things were about to change for EA and Nintendo thanks to Wii U and its capabilities allowing it to put it on par with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Finally, we’d see some REAL games published by EA on a Nintendo system, at least, that’s what some of us thought.

Now it looks like EA has decided to pass on Wii U completely. Not even Madden NFL 14 is being released on the system… why?

What happened?!

Good news everyone, Sony has apparently been researching new tech for suppressing second-hand game sales! The way this is achieved is by binding the game disc to a particular user ID or console ID. So, if you buy a game for the, at this stage, theoretical PlayStation 4, that game will only work on the user account or console it was first activated on and no other. This means that, once activated, that disc cannot be resold as a used game or borrowed by or given to a friend or family member to play on their own console.

Could this be another nail in the coffin for the physical media video game market? What should we be feeling about all of this?

The beginning of the end?

Some unexpected news came from the latest State of the Game entry for Star Wars: The Old Republic, posted by Jay Hickman, the games Executive Producer. Hidden away at the bottom, he revealed that same gender relationships would indeed make its debut on Makeb, the new planet available in the Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion.

I for one am pleased to see this happening, though reading through the discussion thread about it on the official forums, there seem to be some differing opinions (after all, PvP is more important than everything, right? lol).

Don’t worry, be happy

Hey guys, did you know that George Lucas sold LucasFilm Ltd. to Disney? Okay, so everyone on the planet and any extraterrestrials who are fans of Star Wars or Indiana Jones are pretty aware of everything that has happened.

It’s an exciting time for everyone, or maybe it’s a time of dread, who knows… either way, Star Wars: Episode VII, VIII and IX are coming and Disney is making it happen.

May the Force be with us all…

Last month I posted an entry about my challenge to go completely digital with Wii U. It’s been over a week and I’m ready to report on a few things I’ve learned while trying to make this entire thing a reality…

A billion hours to go for this download…

We’ve all come to this conclusion already as soon as a lot of us saw the Wii U GamePad for the very first time. It was either this or the next instalment of Pokémon Snap that was floating around in our imaginations… or both. Either way, we all knew that Fatal Frame for Wii U had to happen because it really is such a perfect match made only possibly by ghosts… most likely.

Take a picture, it’ll last longer!

Sith are known throughout the galaxy as being the embodiment of the dark side of the Force, their history stained with the blood of everyone and everything around them. To many, they are simply evil incarnate and nothing more… which is why I chose to take a different path for my Sith Warrior, one that would put her up against all of the stereotypes presented of her species, the so-called Sith Purebloods.

That title just made me have a Digimon flashback… I mean, yes, It hasn’t been talked about all that much by people, but it’s one of the things Nintendo is pushing with their new system. Wii U games will be available for download from their eShop and there are already reports of quite the selection of launch titles already up.

After mulling it over, I have decided that I would like to try to challenge myself with this new system and will be doing my very best to buy all of my Wii U games from the eShop and store them on a USB HDD rather than buying the physical media. That said, I know that this is going to be an uphill battle for me, there are so many things that make this a BAD idea…

Can it be done?

Awhile back I started a series of “Trooper Logs” that depicted the events of my main characters journey through Star Wars: The Old Republic. However, that series came to an abrupt end when BioWare decided to have “voluntary-forced” server transfers which would mean I’d end up losing the names of my toons… which to me is unacceptable!

Of course, things ended up working out for the best and now that I’m back I feel compelled to post more entries relating to The Old Republic, though without returning to that old Trooper Log format. I’ve decided to start a series of entries about each character in “The Former Legacy” starting with my main toon on the Republic side, Lynk Former.

The launch of a new console is always something to look forward to because it opens up new possibilities, especially when it comes to a Nintendo console. Just one month from now Wii U will launch in Australia and I’m excited to see first-hand just how well the Wii U GamePad shapes up.

I can’t wait!
