Here we go, another Dead Space related entry for those who care… though this one won’t be as comprehensive as the others.

Just like with the first game, a comic series was created to compliment the release of Dead Space 2, though this time the comic included some playable mini-games embedded throughout the story.

As promised in the Game Spotlight for Dead Space 2, let’s have a look at one of the two media releases dealing with the events leading up to the start of Dead Space 2.

The first Dead Space animation, titled Dead Space: Downfall, was one of those “it’s so bad it’s actually good” situations, though I’m still undecided as to how I should take Dead Space: Aftermath since, overall, it’s not really as bad as Downfall.

Let’s take a trip back to Aegis VII…

I’ve written spotlight entries for the original Dead Space, the prequel that originally came out for Wii, Dead Space: Extraction, and the first animated movie of the series, Dead Space: Downfall… now after quite a long wait, I finally get to write one for Dead Space 2!

Ever since I played the original game, I’ve become quite a huge fan of Dead Space and rank it among the best games that have come out of what has been a very productive generation. Visceral and EA have invested a lot in the series with a collection comprising of comics, side-story games, animations, etc. Though, while there is a whole variety of media with the Dead Space name attached to it, it’s the games in the main series, starring Isaac Clarke, that are the ones you really need to pay attention to.

In my continuing effort to post more articles per month, here is my 6th article… not including that one I posted on SMS before… oh and don’t worry, I’ll give SMS a proper announcement on the anniversary post which will most likely be the next entry.

It was quite awhile ago now, but when the first concept art for “Epic Mickey” was revealed, a lot of people got VERY excited. And how could they not? It wasn’t like anything you would associate with Mickey Mouse… at least not the Mickey we know these days. It was dark, foreboding and very well presented. There were those who believed this art style would go far… until they saw the screenshots which weren’t quite as amazing as the concept art…

Of course, we can’t really talk more about a game that hasn’t even come out yet, so onto the games that have already been released…

I see what you did there…

UPDATE: Disregard the next paragraph. Changed the “Anime Spotlight” category to “Animation Spotlight”… hooray.

Okay, firstly, I know very well that this is NOT an anime, but I’m being extremely lazy and I don’t want to make a new category just for this… in any case, no matter what country of origin it is, the Koreans always get involved anyway, plus this is a lot more violent than most other US origin animated features… so, whatever…

To sum it all up, this is a terrible movie that no one other than die-hard fans of Dead Space should watch out of curiosity but are better off not watching in the first place and should just pretend like it was never made… like I’m sure a lot of people over at Visceral Games have been doing for quite some time now… And that about sums it up, thank you for reading, good night…

This shit’s getting weirder by the second!

I do admit that I’ve been posting up a lot of Game Spotlight entries for Wii titles lately and I really should focus on some more 360 and PS3 games, but I think I should get this game out of the way since I have already posted up an entry about the original Dead Space.

The first game in the series gave us sights and sounds that created quite the atmospheric dark and lonely experience. If you didn’t have a huge HDTV, a Dolby Digital capable surround sound system and a room where you could turn the lights out, draw the curtains and sit in the pitch black darkness with only the glow of the TV in front of you, then you weren’t experiencing the game the way it really is meant to be played.

On the other hand, Dead Space: Extraction is an entirely different beast to the original…

Oh, the horror…

It’s been way too long since my last entry, but better late than never (and other suitable cliché’s) for this one.

It can be an extremely satisfying experience when you’re standing at the top of a tall Gothic styled building and looking down at a group of thugs below. You then jump straight down and into the middle of the thugs and before they can yell “It’s the Batman!!” you’ve already taken them out with some brutal melee moves that send them flying to the ground. You are the goddamn Batman and you love it. That’s the feeling I got while playing Batman: Arkham Asylum and it really does impress me how far this game goes to make you feel like the dark knight. There are many games that feature established characters like Batman, and sure, they do feature their trademark moves and gear, though few manage to make you feel like you really are that character and can pull off all of their moves just like how it’s done in their TV show or movie or whatever.

I’M BATMAN!

Back in 2007 I bought my first game that was either published by EA or developed by one of the many studios it has devoured. That game was The Godfather: Blackhand Edition for Wii and I liked what I played despite it being from EA… and as you can probably tell, I’m not much of a fan of the company… despite this, later in 2008 I finally got my second EA game, Dead Space.

The first words you’ll hear anyone utter when you ask them about Dead Space is most likely going to be, “It’s like Resident Evil 4″… and it is for the most part, though that’s definitely not a bad thing. In fact, as you play through this game you will realise that they made it to try to do everything that Resident Evil can’t or has stopped doing recently.

Altman be praised!
