I promise, I’ll get back to making non-Nintendo entries after this one, it’s just that I really feel the urge to get this one out there as soon as I can.

Throughout most of its history as a video game company, Nintendo has always had some sort of connection to a western developer creating games under the Nintendo banner. At first this “champion in the west” was British based developer Rareware who most of us have come to know from the games they developed for Nintendo during the 90s. However, Rare’s time has passed and a new champion, this time from Texas, has taken their place… Retro Studios.

Okay, now that I’m on my summer break, it’s time to spend more time actually posting stuff in here that’s of some worth… Also, I couldn’t help myself, I just had to use a Macross reference for the title of this entry.

Do you remember what video games were like back when you were 16? It wasn’t that long ago for me and I’m sure it wasn’t that long ago for many of you, but I think that that age is an interesting time to look back on. We were all still back in school and we probably didn’t have as much money to spend on video games as we do nowadays… that said, we had a lot more free time to spend playing them.

I turned 16 back in late 2000 and it was quite an interesting time for gaming…

Do you remember?…

Recently the Xbox Live Arcade version of Perfect Dark was released and everyone except Perfect Dark fans who don’t own a 360 rejoiced. It’s taken me awhile to download it but I did a few days ago and have been playing through it and enjoying it just as much as I did back in the day when it was a Nintendo 64 game.

So how does this revamped HD version stand up to the original? It seems like a stupid question considering the fact that crisp visuals, solid frame-rates and online support are all a very big plus for the game… but as I have been playing through Perfect Dark, I have been noticing some small factors that seem oddly different… or just plain MISSING from the Nintendo 64 version.
